Lesson 8: Measuring & Comparing
Measuring helps us find out how long, tall, or heavy something is. Comparing helps us say which is longer, shorter, heavier, or lighter.
Key Concepts
Longer and Shorter
We compare lengths to find which is longer and which is shorter. A ruler helps us measure exactly how long something is in inches or centimeters.
Heavier and Lighter
A scale compares weights. The heavier side goes down. The lighter side goes up. We measure weight in pounds (lb) or kilograms (kg).
More and Less
We compare amounts too! A full glass has more water than an empty one. Comparing amounts helps us share things fairly and understand the world around us.
