Tips for Supporting Your Learner

15 Minutes a Day Goes Far

Consistent short sessions beat long occasional ones. Encourage your child to complete one lesson each school day — that's 180+ lessons in a year.

Ask "What Did You Learn?"

After each lesson, ask your child to explain one new concept. Teaching it back is the most effective way to retain knowledge.

Let Them Struggle a Little

If a quiz question is hard, resist the urge to give the answer. Productive struggle builds problem-solving skills and confidence.

Celebrate Completions

When your child finishes a course, make it a big deal. Print the progress report and put it on the fridge — recognition matters.

Connect Learning to Real Life

Ask your child to show you a project they built. Coding a calculator or charting data feels more real when a parent shows genuine interest.

Use the Grade Checklist

The Oklahoma Academic Standards checklist for your child's grade shows every skill they should master this year. Use it at parent-teacher conferences.
